Copper Standing Seam Roofing

Copper is a pure, natural material and has been used for centuries as an effective roof covering, with the added attraction of uunique, changing visual characteristics.

Offering an effectively indefinite design life, copper is extremely durable and resistant to corrosion in any atmosphere, requiring no decoration,
maintenance or cleaning. Copper is environmentally friendly, fully recyclable, safe to use and can be worked at all temperatures.

Standing seam roofing is composed of pans which run parallel to the slope of the roof and are joined to adjacent pans with double locked standing seams. Fixed copper cleats are locked into these seams, securing the roofing to the deck.

Lundy Island's Old Light Light Room
Lundy Island, famous for its Puffins, is a National Trust owned island in the Bristol channel leased to the Landmark Trust.

A restoration programme for the lower light room to the Old Light was undertaken and we were requested to re-roof the light room with copper.

This roof was unusual and there was no wooden deck to fit to, only inverted T-section stainless steel rafters to the same specification as the original higher roof on the lighthouse.

During the fitting of the copper roof, we were filmed for the Channel 4 series Restoring Britain's Landmarks.
